Terms of Service

Effective date: May 21, 2026

1. Acceptance of Terms

By creating an account or using the Cloak API service ("Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree, do not use the Service. These Terms constitute a legally binding agreement between you ("User") and Wardline ("we", "us", or "our").

2. Description of Service

Cloak API provides a machine-learning-based personally identifiable information (PII) detection and redaction API. The Service allows developers to send text and receive identified PII entities along with redacted output via REST API endpoints.

3. Account Registration

  • You must provide accurate and complete registration information.
  • You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your API keys.
  • You must immediately notify us of any unauthorised use of your account at nithish@wardline.co.
  • One account per individual or organisation. Do not share accounts.

4. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

  • Use the Service to process data you are not authorised to access.
  • Attempt to reverse-engineer, decompile, or extract the underlying ML model.
  • Resell or sublicence access to the Service without written permission.
  • Send malicious payloads, perform denial-of-service attacks, or attempt to access other users' data.
  • Use the Service to violate any applicable law or regulation.

5. API Keys

API keys are credentials that grant access to the Service on your behalf. You are solely responsible for all activity that occurs under your API keys. Keys must not be embedded in client-side code, public repositories, or shared with unauthorised parties. Revoke compromised keys immediately through the dashboard.

6. Data and Privacy

Text submitted to the API is processed in real-time to detect PII. We do not store the raw text content of your API requests beyond what is necessary to return a response. Metadata (request counts, response times, entity types detected) is retained for quota management and analytics. See our Privacy Policy for full details.

7. Plans, Quotas, and Billing

  • The Free plan includes 1,000 API calls per month and a 256-token limit per request.
  • Paid plans (Pro, Enterprise) offer higher quotas and are subject to separate pricing agreements.
  • Quotas reset on the first day of each calendar month.
  • We reserve the right to modify pricing with 30 days' written notice.
  • No refunds are issued for unused quota within a billing period.

8. Service Availability

We strive for high availability but do not guarantee uninterrupted service. Scheduled maintenance, infrastructure failures, or third-party outages may cause temporary unavailability. We are not liable for losses arising from service interruptions.

9. Intellectual Property

All rights, title, and interest in the Service (including the API, ML models, and documentation) remain with Wardline. These Terms do not grant you any ownership rights. You retain ownership of any data you submit to the Service.

10. Disclaimers

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND. WE DISCLAIM ALL WARRANTIES, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. THE API IS A TOOL TO ASSIST WITH PII DETECTION AND SHOULD NOT BE RELIED UPON AS THE SOLE MEANS OF DATA PROTECTION.

11. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WARDLINE SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, INCLUDING LOSS OF DATA, REVENUE, OR PROFITS, ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY SHALL NOT EXCEED THE AMOUNT PAID BY YOU IN THE THREE MONTHS PRECEDING THE CLAIM.

12. Termination

We may suspend or terminate your account at any time for violation of these Terms. You may delete your account at any time from the Settings page. Upon termination, your API keys are revoked immediately and your usage data may be retained for up to 90 days for legal and compliance purposes.

13. Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify you via the email on file at least 14 days before material changes take effect. Continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
